For an important part of our history, and the fact that it is still the core of our mission, here is a quote from the founders of SPI from whom we derive our beginnings, in San Francisco: “In 1979, we announced the reasons for our existence. We are an order of 21st century nuns dedicated to the promulgation of universal joy and the expiation of stigmatic guilt. 

Our ministry is one of public manifestation of habitual perpetration. No more guilt!” 

• What does that mean? We exist to bring happiness to those around us, free others from the guilt laid on them by the society. Most importantly we are to be seen and active in the community around us.

• The Abbey of Our Lady of Lilacs
  Our lovely Abbey is a member of the Blessed Order of Perpetual Indulgence.  BOPI, MOPI, OPI, and SPI are all orders around the world small and large each with dedicated Brothers and Sisters dedicated to serving their communities through the efforts of each individual organization.  Although all orders of lovely "Drag as we are sometimes nicknamed" Nuns do the same work and are dedicated with the same spirit of service ALL orders around the world derive and originate from their forebears the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence out of San Francisco, CA

• We are a modern order of QUEER nuns working to be a Manifestation of Love, Joy, Forgiveness, and Healing in the Spokane area and the Inland Northwest, the state of Washington, and the universe as a whole.

  We the Lilac City Sisters of the Abbey of Our Lady of Lilacs are fully versed and proficient in each of the 7 Blessed Sins (or we're trying our hardest to get proficient). We the Sisters are willing and able to provide guidance or further instruction to anyone should the occasion arise.

• We serve the immediate geographical Area spanning from the Eastern slopes of the Cascades to the far eastern planes of Montana, from the Canadian Border to the southern boarders of Washington and Idaho.
